Enrich. Educate. Experience.
Prior to the musical performances of Disney’s The Lion King Jr., the kids participated in a Summer Arts Camp for 2 weeks. During this time, we brought in 3 guest clinicians (Billy Wilburn, Rebecca Bailey & Josh Sheldon) and worked through the Lion King Experience curriculum to introduce them to the fundamentals of theatre. From acting and design, to creativity and collaboration, The Lion King Experience emphasized that we are one, and all part of the Circle of Life. We practice this principal on the stage, and then carry it forward to our everyday lives. It was also emphasized that our characters all have a voice; we all have something to say and share. Simba’s story does not happen without the stories of those around him. Our talents and passions are what brought us together for this experience, and our differences were the conduit for us to practice collaboration.
It was such an honor to be surrounded by such talent and hard working artists. I naturally approach every project from the perspective of a Graphic Designer and Photographer, so what follows are the pieces I created for marketing as part of the responsibilities of a Co-Producer. I have also included production photos from a couple of the performances. Though a technical and logistical challenge, the Hiawatha Pageant Park proved to be the perfect setting for this musical. The atmosphere and ambience was absolutely stunning.
